Mom Spotlight: Elizabeth Hendrix
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, when did you start your family, etc…?
I'm from Texas but grew up in Arkansas. I moved back to San Antonio after college, where I met my husband. We were married, bought two cars and a house and had a baby, all in 3 years.
What are your new mom must-haves?
Amazon Prime and Netflix! As far as actual baby gear, I love my Baby K'Tan, our sleepsacks/swaddlers and muslin blankets.
What was the best part about being a new mom, for you?
Seeing my husband with her and knowing she was ours.
What was the hardest part about being a new mom?
Breastfeeding and the physical demands of being a parent.
What is your most trusted resource?
My mom. She keeps me grounded when I obsess about minutiae.
Are there any key pieces of advice you would pass on to new moms?
Listen to your instincts. Everything else is noise, especially the "mommy wars", which are just a distraction from the real issues women should be concerned about like equal pay and reproductive rights.
